Vetiver is a tall perennial grass weed that typically grows in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The plant has spongy and dense root system, and it is the roots and rootlets Vetiver essential oil is extracted from. It has an initial clean, earthy aroma that later becomes deeper with light smoky notes. It has rich composition makes its aroma deep and complex with excellent fixative properties. An interesting fact is that the steam-distilled Vetiver essential oil, in resemblance to Patchouli and Sandalwood, improves its qualities in time. The fresh steam-distilled and filtered oil is usually left to age for a few months which enhances its deeper and fuller scent.

Thanks to its rich, exotic, and complex aroma Vetiver essential oil is a preferred ingredient in various perfumery compositions of world-renown brands.

SUGGESTED USE

Dilute Vetiver essential oil in your regular cream, lotion or in a carrier oil and apply to skin once a day to moisturize dry or irritated skin. This will also help in reducing the appearance of different skin imperfections such as stretch marks, scars, fine lines or uneven skin tone.

Add a few drops of Vetiver essential oil to your shampoo or create your own hair care mask by combining Vetiver essential oil with other beneficial essential oils and diluting them into a carrier oil (such as Grapeseed, Jojoba or Coconut). This treatment would help soothe potential inflammation in the scalp and enliven the strands of your hair. Add Vetiver essential oil to a massage blend if experiencing muscle or joint pain or need to unwind and relax.
